The Fatherhood Project aims to create a society that:
gives all children strong, positive relationships with their fathers
supports co-operative parenting provides greater support for mothers as carers and earners
supports the role of men in caring for children as well as in earning
A specific initiative is the Expectant and New Dads program Supporting first time fathers is an important and largely neglected area of Social and health policy.
Particular concerns have been raised about very young men becoming fathers for the first time. For many of these young men, there is a willingness to be involved in parenting from and before birth but a considerable lack of knowledge. The Fatherhood Project is developing a programme for expectant fathers in northern NSW.
